The insurance brokers at Rhodes & Williams are active participants in their community in a wide variety of different ways; you can find members of our team supporting local charities, donating their time, coaching minor league sports, and more.
Throughout the year our staff holds a variety of events to raise money for these extremely worthy causes. Stay tuned to our News and Events for information about any upcoming charity events at Rhodes & Williams.
For seven years, Aviva has been putting their money where their business is — investing in charitable community initiatives across Canada, protecting the people and things you love, supporting the causes you care about most, and strengthening your local community. They donate $1 million every year to worthwhile community inititiatives and so far have provided more than $6.5 million in project funding to date.
Every year, Rhodes & Williams chooses great community projects to support. We have supported 2 previous winning projects: Kaiden Car Kits and Asphalt to Oasis - the Greening of the St. Anthony yard. Both projects won in their 2nd year and were supported by the entire staff here at Rhodes & Williams.
Now in it's 11th year, the Marsha Morton Memorial Golf Tournament has raised an average of $16,500 over the last three years for the battle against Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Marsha Morton died at the age of 12 from CF, the most common fatal genetic disease that affects Canadian children and young adults for which there is no cure.
We have been tournament partners with the Kiin Club of Orleans and District since the inaugural tournament ─ providing many staff volunteers to help out throughout the years. This year’s annual tournament raised $18,018 toward Cystic Fibrosis. CEO Trent Young was also awarded the Hal Rogers Fellow Award which he accepted the award at the 11th annual Marsha Morton Golf Tournament for Cystic Fibrosis. Read more about the award and Trent's contribution here.
On average, two children are born in Canada every week with Cystic Fibrosis(CF). One person dies from Cystic Fibrosis in Canada each week. Of the 63 patients that died in 2009, half were under 28 years old. Providing support and information to all Canadian families of newborns diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis is our goal. “Kaiden’s Care Kits” provide much needed medical supplies, support and information to Canadian families of newborns diagnosed with CF.
Rhodes & Williams sponsored Kaiden's Care Kits in the 2011 and 2012 Aviva Community Fund. After a lot of time and hard work, Kaiden's Care Kits were awarded $35,000 in much deserved funding. The projects ultimate goal is to have a Care Kit for every child in Canada that is born with CF. Check back for updates on how this project has affected Canadian Families.
Here is Helen Meinzinger (Creator) talking about Kaiden's Care kits.
Recently, we have decided to support Crime Stoppers. This is an organization that we strongly believe in, and feel that it has a positive impact on the community.

December 1st was a very proud moment for Rhodes & Williams and the 8 employees who participated in the 2013 Movember challenge. The goal for these employees was to grow out their moustache throughout the month of November to raise awareness and donations for Men's Health. Very successful in their effort, they were able to raise over $3400 towards the cause. Keep reading.
Rhodes & Williams were happy participants in the 2014 Toonies For Tots fundraiser in support of CHEO.
The employees participated in everything from bake sales and raffle baskets to Lonny Lessard's ingenious "Water Balloon throw", for which he was the target.
In total the staff raised an outstanding $1267, which is a whopping 633 toonies!
The money will go towards the hospital’s top priorities such as specialized medical equipment, lifesaving research, toys, games and teaching aids.
Rhodes & Williams has jumped on board to support the 2014 GoodGuysTri run 4 the kids. This annual run contributes to institutions such as Sick kids, CHEO and ACH in the fight against kid’s cancer. The run has raised an astounding $115,000 in the first two years and is hoping to raise an additional $60,000 in 2014.
We couldn’t be happier to be part of such a wonderful initiative and we sincerely thank all those who come together to make this happen.
Lana Sentsova and Michel Beauregard of Rhodes & Williams have done a great job running the 'New to You' boutique here at our Ottawa office. Employees dig through their closets and bring in clothing for exchange, with the remainder being donated to a local women's drop-in. Our drop-in of choice is Centre Espoir Sophie which provides a safe environment for women in need.
