Staff Raises Money on National Denim Day for Breast Cancer

May 13th, 2016

Denimday

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among women and is the 2nd leading cause of death from cancer in Canadian women. Breast cancer can also occur in men, but is not as common.

According to the Canadian Cancer Society, an estimated 25,000 new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in women, 220 new cases in men, and 5,060 persons died of this disease in 2015. On average, 68 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 14 Canadian women will die from breast cancer every day.

As part of CURE Foundation's National Denim Day, the staff at Rhodes & Williams ditched their traditional office attire and wore their jeans to work in support of the CURE Foundation’s fight against breast cancer. We are please to announce that our office raised $210 towards this very worthy cause.

Every little bit helps.

About National Denim Day

Launched in May 1997, National Denim Day is the CURE Foundation’s main fundraiser and is held annually on the Tuesday following Mother's Day. Businesses, organizations and institutions across Canada are encouraged to allow employees, members and/or students to wear denim and receive CURE’s ‘pink flower’ ribbon in exchange for a suggested $5 donation. The Foundation also welcomes matching donations from corporations who wish to support their employees’ contributions to the fight against breast cancer. CURE provides free participation kits, which include posters, pink flower ribbons, income tax forms, and a self-addressed return envelope to ensure easy implementation of this event.

I wanted to send a quick note to let you know what a pleasure it has been to deal with Heather Bonadie. She has been assisting me and my wife over the last few days with auto insurance for a new car. She has been very responsive, informative, efficient and, most importantly, professional and friendly. I work in the professional services sector too and really appreciate someone as talented as she is. A great asset for your team!
